Ini bukan hoax dan juga bukan echo.. ho.. ho... Ini betulan, HOSTING GRATIS.

Biasanya perubahan DNS akan memakan waktu beberapa jam. Paling aman sih Anda tunggu 6 jam baru Anda request ke sini. Untuk domain pribadi yang berbayar, biasanya ngga sampai 2 jam sudah langsung bisa digunakan.

Two weeks ago I received a comment from my friend and he referred me to smorty. I followed his link and honestly I admire its money making concept. Advertisers can easily advertise on blogs and get their websites reviewed, and publisher (or blogger) can make money from that. I think it's simple and powerful way to advertise on blogs (for advertisers) and to get paid for blogging (for bloggers).

It takes 10 days to Unsubscribe From Yahoo! Shopping

I got an email from Yahoo! Shopping with pictures of laptop, digital camera, cell phone, shoes, tv, mp3 player, pda, furniture, women's clothing. It also gave me links for reviews, bargains, saving zone, green, and coupon deals.

Honestly I never care about email like that. And since it came from Yahoo!, I don't think I need to trash it out. But because I receive a lot of emails everyday, I wanted to stop receiving email from Yahoo! Shopping. According to suggestion on the header (sorry, I didn't make the screenshot), and suggestion from footer (see picture above, I've made it smaller to fit the template), I need to hit unsubscribe link.

After clicking the link, I got this on my screen :

I don't understand, why 10 days ? not instant ? After reading Unsubscribe Help, I got an answer : Your changes take effect within 10 business days. If you recently unsubscribed, the email you received might have been processed and ready to mail when you updated your preferences.

For a couple of minutes, I tried to figure it out :

1. It is a mailing list system.


2. Yahoo! always makes schedules to send marketing and promotion emails for 10 days ahead.


3. Maybe it is impossible to automatically remove my mail address that has been scheduled as receiver.


4. My email address has been removed from the database, but it is still inside running scheduled task. So maybe I will still receive such email tomorrow, but not for the next schedule.


5. Maybe it can be removed instantly using manual procedure, but the staffs are so busy, or so lazy to do something because the coffee machine at Yahoo! office is not working.

From "Unsubscribe Help" page, I know that Yahoo! really cares about privacy. Phone contact, web beacons, postal mail, email, all are mentioned and explained well and clear. But I think Yahoo! has to care more about it in real actions, not just in papers and pages.

Got a privacy policy about adsense ? Post your site here !

Recently google adsense added a specific requirement for Publishers to put a transparent privacy policy on their sites. Visitors must be able to see it.

According to this policy, publishers must notify their visitors about the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data in the ad serving process.

Pro and contra are discussed on internet. Many publishers worry that this would make visitors afraid to visit their sites. On the other hand, some other publishers say that it is ok to put a privacy policy statement anywhere on their site.

I am also an adsense publisher. I have several websites. I feel that google doesn't make a clear requirement. These questions came into my mind :

1. Where should I put this privacy policy ? On a special page ? On sidebar ? On footer ? On header ? Or it should be seen on every page ?


2. If I don't put any privacy policy, when is the deadline ? Will google ban my account if I never create any privacy policy statement ?


3. Paranoid : I'm afraid these privacy policy will make visitors scared. And this would end up in lower impressions and clicks.


4. Is it just a google tricks to lower and hold payments ?


5. More about number 2 and 4 : I'm only a publisher with low revenue. My sites are only small sites and sometimes generate no impression at all. Wouldn't it be better if the requirement is only for "big" publishers ? They already have many regular visitors per day and if the privacy policy statement makes them scare, it affects only small number of visitors.


6. If I notify visitors about the use of cookies and/or web beacons to collect data, I should also notify that it is not only for adsense purposes to collect data because I also track visitors using google analytics, mybloglog, sitemeter, extreme tracking or any other counters. And I also implement kontera, amazon, or any other affiliations. I'm sure they also collect visitor's data. If I don't clearly mention them on privacy policy, visitors will feel cheated.


7. Do visitors care about privacy policy ? I've been surfing many websites and I never care about privacy policy or any terms of service statements. Do you ?

I've made a simple privacy policy statement and I would like to test it out. Let me evaluate if it will decrease impressions and visitors.

I feel sick enough to get spams on my email per day, and I don't want them appear on my blog.

Mengoptimalkan Domain

Ini pikiran iseng beberapa waktu lalu, tepatnya tanggal 3 Maret setelah saya beli domain nurzahid.cn seharga Rp. 2300 untuk tahun pertama.

Semaleman saya mikir, mau buat apa ya itu domain. Saya sudah cukup puas dengan didiwahyudi.info ini. Lha baru satu ini aja saya sudah cukup bingung mau nulis apa lagi. Saya tahu saya bisa nulis banyak sekali. Dari soal kehidupan sehari-hari, keluarga, sampai weblog model om cosa atau john chow. Tapi saya sadar bukan itu yang saya cari. Lha terus apa ? Lihat saja judul utama blog saya ini. Ya itu. Makanya boleh dibilang case closed dan jadi orang biasa wae lah.

Lha kok malah jadi curhat, sudah.. sudah.. ndak usah diteruskan. Kembali ke topik "Mengoptimalkan Domain".

Sejak beberapa tahun terakhir ini marak sekali orang berbisnis lewat domain parking. Menurut saya itu salah kaprah. Maksud utama memparkir domain adalah untuk mendayagunakan domain sementara website belum dibuat. Jadi seharusnya isinya cuma sekedar tulisan Under Construction. Tapi sekarang banyak orang yang sengaja beli domain lalu diparkir, ditempelin iklan, diisi link-link jebakan yang sebenarnya iklan belaka, diberi high paying keyword, bahkan kemudian diiklankan di search engine.

Bahkan sampai ada yang jualan buku "Rahasia Domain Parking" atau "Mengeruk Dollar via Domain Parking", dan sebagainya. Dan kemudian kalau kita sudah mumpuni di bidang ini, kita akan mempunyai domain portfolio tersendiri, semacam CV kalau melamar kerja. Hebat sekali ! Saya bilang, ini adalah tindakan yang sangat abusive alias menyalahi si kaprah. Bahkan google juga punya layanan parking tersendiri untuk para domainer dengan portfolio bagus. Ini bikin saya tambah heran. Tapi Insya Allah soal google ini akan saya bahas di lain artikel.

Kembali ke malam saya berpikir itu. Kalau saya bisa :

1. Mendapatkan content yang cukup dan tidak terbatas.


2. Memasukkan kategori artikel apapun yang saya inginkan.


3. Menempelkan apapun yang saya ingin tempelkan, dari mulai shoutbox sampai iklan ppc.


4. Menjadikan website dengan model apapun yang saya inginkan, bisa berupa blog atau yang lainnya.


5. Bebas mengatur apapun isi dan tampilan website saya.


6. Menegakkan semangat "Jangan jadi racun internet".


7. Membuat berapapun website yang saya inginkan menggunakan sub-domain saya.


8. Semuanya dibuat tanpa biaya alias gratis.

Saya ingat kalau domain didiwahyudi.info ini saya parkir di mydomain.com. Berarti point-point di atas bisa saya wujudkan.

Langkah awal saya set NS ke ns1.mydomain.com s/d ns4.mydomain.com. Kemudian saya login ke mydomain.com dan saya tambahkan nurzahid.cn ke situ. Tidak lupa saya forward helmy@nurzahid.cn ke gmail saya. Di gmail saya tambahkan account email di atas supaya saya bisa kirim email menggunakan alamat di atas melalui gmail.

Berikutnya saya arahkan nurzahid.cn ke www.nurzahid.cn dengan setting standard forward dan pass sub-directories.

Saya buat subdomain www dan saya set CNAME ke ghs.google.com supaya saya bisa pakai itu untuk custom domain di blogspot.

Kemudian saya bikin blog baru sekaligus saya pindah alamatnya ke www.nurzahid.cn dengan setting custom domain di atas.

Lalu saya membandingkan penyedia layanan domain parking dan pemenangnya adalah Park4Money karena :

• Bisa pakai sub-domain


• Menggunakan adsense kita sendiri


• Domain yang diparking akan diberi artikel secara cuma-cuma.


• Artikel-artikel yang tampil sesuai kategori yang kita pilih.


• Artikel-artikel yang tampil tidak sama dengan domain lain yang diparking menggunakan kategori yang sama.

Ya sudah, saya buat saja beberapa sub-domain sesuai kategori yang tersedia di park4money. Misalnya accounting, business, career, dan sebagainya. Pokoknya bebas deh. Semuanya saya set NS ke ns1.park4money.net dan ns2.park4money.net.

Setelah parkingnya jadi, saya kopi paste sebagian isinya sebagai artikal di www.nurzahid.cn dengan tambahan [read more] yang nge-link ke sub-domain terparkir.

Ya begitulah ide iseng saya. Kalau domain utama yang diparkir, saya bisa kehilangan potensi yang sangat besar. Lagian saya punya waktu cukup banyak untuk sekedar membuat sub-domain baru dan mengkopi paste isinya.

Saya rasa ini akan jauh lebih baik dan lebih sopan daripada parkir domain biasa. Dan yang lebih penting, saya merasa lebih nyaman dan puas walaupun sedikit agak repot. Tapi jangan nanya soal berapa yang mungkin dihasilkan atau berapa yang sudah saya hasilkan, itu adalah pertanyaan yang saru. Sama halnya ketika ada ketakutan kena ban adsense karena ctr yang tinggi, itu adalah ketakutan yang saru, he he he...
